Criteria
Please read the criteria before completing the application form. If you are applying for a scholarship you must identify as a Person of Color.
Definition of People of Color:
“People of Color” are of African ancestry, Asian/Pacific, Hispanic, Latino, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, or Native American ancestry.
If you’re a member of another ancestral group and you identify as a person of color, please let us know and we’ll let you know if we can assist.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be a member of the Shambhala Buddhist community
- You must have taken Refuge and/or Bodhisattva vows with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, or an Acharya in the Shambhala Buddhist Community, or one of his senior teachers.
- You must be a person of color residing in North America.
- You must be eligible for one of the programs listed below.
- You must be in need of financial assistance.
- Willingness to ground yourself in practice and study, to promote the understanding the Shambhala teachings and of diversity as intrinsic to creating an enlightened society.
- Willingness to be of benefit to people in your local center; volunteer in your community; cultivate compassion; bring Shambhala vision to the community, and use meditation as a path of developing awareness.

- Shambhala Guide Training
- Shambhala Path Meditation Instructor Training
